Kids Allowed

The Kids Allowed in Kingborough project:
The project used the arts as an innovative model for consulting with an important but often neglected group in our society.  Children aged six years and under have not traditionally been consulted about urban planning issues and yet they have very specific needs to ensure that urban spaces are made ‘child friendly’.

After the initial consultation phase with the kids along the main street of Kingston, i followed up with a visit in their classrooms.
My aim was to engage with the children about expressing their ideas on what would make the main street a better place – they did this through drawing, painting and clay work.
They have a direct link to their creative and intuitive voice which makes them a wonderful age group to work with.
They were days of incredibly creative and spontaneous art making, which was a joy to play, explore and develop together.
Pictures of their artworks to come.
